The Oncology Unit of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) Kano, in collaboration with Center for Medical Information and Professional Development has revealed that invitations have been sent out to women for a free cervical cancer screening schedule to commence in the second week of March 2023 and will last till the end of the month.
In a statement issued and signed by the Hospital Director Public Relations Malama Hauwa Muhd Abdullahi, the free screening exercise is part of the activities lined up to commemorate 2023 World Cancer Month. The statement explained that the free cancer screening is an aspect lined up among several aspects scheduled for World Cancer Month.
According to the statement women and ladies eligible for the screening are those between the age range of 26-65 years adding that the screening exercise will take place at the Family Planning Unit as provision for almost one thousand testing kits were provided made by the Oncology Unit and the Center for Medical Information and Professional Development for effective conduct of the free screening exercise.
The screening according to the statement will be conducted from 10:00am throughout the month of March.
