HopeReach Initiative for Humanitarian Development has honoured Dr. Salisu Maiwada and Dr. Aisha Gadanya of the Department of Biochemistry, Bayero University Kano.
The NGO said the honour was to celebrate the promotion of the two academics to the position of professors of Nutritional Biochemistry by the university.
The Executive Director of the NGO, Jamil Salman, presented the award to the awardees on Friday at the Postgraduate Conference Room of the Biochemistry Department.
In his remarks, Salman said the decision to honour the professors with the certificates of excellence was in recognition of their dedication to addressing malnutrition and general wellbeing of Nigerians.
Mr Salman, who commended Prof. Gadanya and Prof. Maiwada for their exemplary leadership, outlined the main objectives of the organization to include improving nutritional health and well-being in society through education, outreach and innovative programs.
He also highlighted the various achievements of the organization on health-care, education, environmental sustainability, and youth development at different levels since its inception.
In their separate remarks, the awardees expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the HopeReach Initiative for the recognition and assured their commitment to supporting the organization’s mission.
Other executive members of the NGO that attended the occasion include Hajiya Aisha Tijjani Shitu (Deputy Director),
Mr. Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah (Secretary), Mr. Sadiq Ibrahim (Director Development and Outreach), Zaharaddeen Ibrahim (Monitoring and Evaluation Officer), and Gaddafi Ali (Board member), among others.
