HJRBDA’s Bichi hosts Prof Utsev in historic visit to Jigawa and Kano, by Shehu Mustapha Chaji

3rd February 2026 will be a day to remember for decades by people of Jigawa and Kano States as Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation Engr. Prof Joseph Terlumun Utsev inaugurated projects that will bring about development, safety and posterity to communities across Kano and Jigawa states.

The host of this august visitor is the hardworking and workaholic Managing Director of Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Kano (Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi) Engr. Dr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi. His foresight, commitment and dedication is the engine pushing fastly to bring about meaningful development within the mandate areas of HJRBDA.

Engr. Bichi and his team led by Hon.(Dr) Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso ED Finance and Administration are performing wonders and making people feel the impact of Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States.

During his visit the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation Engr. Utsev Commissions and Flagged off the following projects:

Flagg off of Drainage and Erosion Control Project in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa state. The project will end erosion, flooding and after flood protection, the water that previously led to destruction will now be used for productive agricultural use year round farming.

Commission of Modern Conference and Training Centre at HJRBDA Headquarter in Kano state. The Centre will help to strengthen human capital development, empower youths and women, and promote sustainable irrigated agricultural practices .

Graduation of first batch of 500 youths who received training in Drip Irrigation, Hydroponics, Green House Technology and Every Home a Garden.

Flagg off of the Bela Dam Project in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano state. The multi purpose Dam is designed to address perennial flooding challenges while enhancing irrigation, domestic water supply, fisheries, livestock production and other agricultural activities.

Launching of Pilot Drip Irrigation Scheme at Kaukau in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano state.

Due to time constraint the Honourable Minister Prof Joseph Terlumun Utsev could not commission centre pilot irrigation facility at Kadawa, Filin Gyada, Chiromawa.

Since assuming office last year Engr. Bichi was able to bring about transformational development in water resources management within HJRBDA’s jurisdiction.

On behalf of people of Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States we are requesting Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev to visit HJRBDA Headquarter again and visit places and communities in Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States to see for himself developmental works bringing prosperity and boosting economic activities. Indeed Engr. Dr Rabiu Suleiman Bichi is a good ambassador of Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States.
