The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has registered 3,409 intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj exercise, according to its chairman, Salihu Abubakar.
Abubakar made the disclosure on Thursday while receiving two newly appointed members of the Hajj Special Committee at his office.
The new members, Sheikh Haliru Maraya and Malam Abdullahi Bayero, are experienced Hajj officials appointed by Governor Uba Sani.
The chairman revealed that this number is part of the over 6,000 seats allocated to the state by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
He confirmed that all 3,409 intending pilgrims had completed their payments before the February 10 deadline set by NAHCON, and their funds had already been remitted to the commission.
“As of now, we have registered 3,409 intending pilgrims. We may receive additional registrations, but these are the names that met the February 10 deadline,” he stated.
Abubakar emphasized that the agency operates an open-door policy and remains committed to transparency.
He explained further that he is open to corrections where necessary, adding that Last year, every committee member was assigned specific responsibilities during the Hajj operations, ensuring smooth coordination.
He also encouraged intending pilgrims to participate in the agency’s enlightenment programs designed to educate them about the Hajj exercise and the rules governing the pilgrimage in both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
In his remarks, Sheikh Haliru Maraya thanked Governor Uba Sani for entrusting them with the responsibility.
He further assured the committee of his readiness to contribute toward the success of the 2025 Hajj, building on the achievements recorded in 2024.
“We are committed to using our years of experience in Hajj operations to improve the process for Kaduna pilgrims,” he added.
