Gunmen have killed the village head of Gidan Usmanu, Auwal Wali, in his residence in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The spokesman for the Army 6 Brigade, Oni Olubodunde, who revealed this on Tuesday, commiserated with the family of the slain monarch, pledging that the perpetrators of the attack would be brought to book.
He said the Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, has visited the areas in Lau and Karim Lamido Local Councils of the state.
According to Olubodunde, the visit was to reassure the villagers that the military was committed to securing the citizens, and to strengthen the partnership between the Army, and the communities to flush out criminal elements hibernating within the area.
“We are here to express our condolences to the people of Gidan Usmanu and also to reaffirm our commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Taraba State,” Uwa was quoted as saying.
“Your support is invaluable to our mission, and we will continue to work together to ensure a secure environment for all residents.”
