An officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ebonyi State Command, was killed by gunmen.
The incident happened along the popular busy Enugu- Abakaliki highway on Saturday when the deceased alongside his colleagues were on duty.
Another officer of the agency reportedly sustained a serious bullet injury during the incident.
The attack took place around 3 a.m. close to a military checkpoint in the area.
Although it is not yet clear whether the gunmen took the rifle of the deceased officers before setting ablaze the agency’s patrol truck.
A source said that the other officer who is now receiving treatment in a hospital was shot on the leg.
There was no statement on the incident by the state command of the agency.
