A father and his two sons have been killed by gunmen in Ore community in Ado local government area of Benue State.
Residents of the community said the victims – Enogu, Chigbo Enogu, and Sunday Enogu, were on their way from the farm when they were waylaid and murdered by the assailants,
Although the state Police Command Chairman is yet to issue an official statement, Chairman of Ado local government council, James Oche, confirmed the incident to journalists in Makurdi on Friday.
He said the incidents happened on Thursday, adding that security forces are already on the trail of the perpetrators.
Oche said a few arrests had been made and the suspects would help with the ongoing investigation.
The chairman, however, urged the people of the area to remain peaceful and law-abiding as he assured them that his administration was committed to protecting the lives and property of the people of Ado.
