Four mourners have been killed and one other injured in gunmen attack on Imande Abur village, Logo local government area of Benue State.
Police spokesperson in the state, Catherine Anene, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday said three gunmen attacked the mourners on Saturday at a wake “and shot sporadically at mourners who were assembled at a funeral ceremony.”
She said police teams within the area swiftly moved to the scene of the incident but the suspects took to their heels on sighting the police.
Anene said give persons sustained gunshot injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment, but four of them lost their lives while receiving treatment.
She said the command had commiserated with families of the victims and assured that justice would be served as detectives are already on the trail of the suspects.
