Gunmen have killed at least 14 people in a fresh attacks at Mado village, Mabushi in Atyap Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Scores of houses were also destroyed during the attack on Saturday night.
Chairman of Atyap Chiefdom Peace and Security Partnership Committee, (ACPSPC), Mr John Bala Gora, told journalists these attacks persist despite efforts at restoring peace in the area.
In a reprisal attack, a Fulani settlement in Kankada, Madakiya District in Bajju Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf local government area, was completely burnt down Sunday morning.
A survivor of the reprisal attack, Halima Haruna, taking refuge at the Zonkwa Divisional Police Station, said that the attackers surrounded their community in the early hours of Sunday.
The survivor, who is a wife to the Ardo of Kankada, Haruna, said she saw two corpses while trying to hide.
“We were forced to run and hide somewhere while some of our people ran to the bush for their safety.”
She added that: “We don’t know what happened to them as I am speaking with you now, we spent three hours before the security arrived and took us to the Police Station here in Zonkwa. Our houses were totally razed.”
Mrs Haruna said the assailants informed that they were on revenge mission of what happened around Samaru Kataf on Saturday night.
Police spokesperson in Kaduna command, ASP Muhammed Jalige, said security have been deployed in the affected communities.
