Gunmen have struck again in Niger State, seizing 10 people from Angwan-Kawo and Kuchipa villages in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, revealed this on Thursday, saying the bandits struck on Wednesday evening.
“On November 26, 2025, at about 8 pm, a report was received indicating that suspected armed men abducted about ten persons from Angwan-Kawo and Kuchipa villages of Shiroro Local Government Area.
“Effort is being made to rescue the victims,” Abiodun said.
Earlier in the same day, a blind man was brutalised and had his right hand severed by bandits after they seized a mobile phone from him in the Kakuru community, also in Erena Ward.
The victim is currently receiving first aid at a patent medicine shop in the Kuduru community.
Residents of the Palaita community, Erena Ward, also reported that bandits attacked a rice farm in their area, allegedly abducting 24 people, including pregnant women.
This figure has not been independently confirmed.
The fresh attacks come barely a week after armed men invaded St. Mary’s Catholic School in the Papiri community, Agwara Local Government Area, taking away over 300 students and 12 teachers in one of the worst school kidnappings in recent years.
