A business man, identified as Salau Hussain, was on Tuesday kidnapped by gunmen in his residence in Minna, the Niger state capital.
This is the first time gunmen have struck within the city, despite their atrocities in villages in the state.
Niger state has became bandits strongholds in North Central geopolitical zone in the country.
Eyewitness said there was tension around Brighter road area of the incident that happened at about 1:30am on Tuesday.
Sources said the gunmen stormed the area in the late hours on Tuesday in large numbers and heavily armed.
They said the gunmen overpowered the local vigilantes in the area who after sighting them from a far engaged the gunmen.
They said the police refused to respond to the distress call put across by the residents of the area.
The spokesperson of the Niger state Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, didn’t respond to calls to confirm the incident.
