Three people have been killed and many others injured when gunmen attacked Anara market in Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo state.
Source said the incident happened at about 10pm on Tuesday. They said the assailants stormed the market with a white Sienna vehicle and opened fire, killing three people and injured several others.
The South-East geo-political zone has been plagued by insecurity in recent time. The proscribed secessionist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been fingered for the insecurity situation in the region.
The group had killed many security men and civilians, as well as destroyed many federal government infrastructure.
However, it was yet to be ascertained whether the group was responsible for Anara market attack, as the Imo Police Command is yet to issue official statement of the incident.
