Armed attackers suspected have attacked and injured the editor in chief of Katsina Post, Mustapha Sadik in an early Saturday morning attack in his house in Batagarawa.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the attackers stormed the residence of the journalist in Batagarawa low-cost in Katsina State.
“What we’ve so far is sketchy especially since we’re now concerned about his health but his family informed me that the attackers were three in numbers. They had guns and other weapons during the attack,” Sadik Bindawa, the Chief Operating Officer of Katsina Post told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE on Saturday.
He added that the attackers inflicted injuries on the journalist before asking for car keys and phones.
Mustapha Sadik was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
“He is recuperating and we’re engaging with security agents as they’ve since launched a manhunt to arrest the attackers,” the COO said.
Car and motorcycle thefts as well phone snatching have heightened in Katsina metropolis for months but it’s rare case for the thieves to scale fences and attack residents.
When asked if the attackers were deliberately targeting the journalist, Sadik Bindawa, the COO, said the family and the news organisation would not want to interfere in the work of security agents.
