The traditional ruler of Orsu Obodo, Eze Victor Ijioma, in Oguta local government area of Imo state, has been killed and remains burnt to ashes.
The traditional ruler was killed with the Traditional Prime Minister of Isama of the Mgbele community in the council.
Both leaders were reportedly assassinated in separate attacks on Thursday evening.
A local in Orsu Obodo said the killers abducted the traditional ruler at Umuamaka junction in the neighbouring Izombe town and murdered him inside his car before setting his corpse ablaze.
Similarly, the Traditional Prime Minister of Mgbele, whose name was not available at the time of this report, was killed in his town.
The source said security men have increased their presence in Izombe, Mgbele and other parts of Oguta local council to track the gunmen.
Members of both communities have deserted their homes for fear of further attacks.
The state police spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, told newsmen he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
