Seven traders, comprising three women and four men, have been abducted by gunmen while returning from Ugya village market in Toto local government area of Nasarawa State.
A source said the incident happened at about 6 pm on Tuesday after the traders had left the market and were returning to their various destinations when they were ambushed by their abductors.
He said the kidnappers opened fire on the vehicle that was conveying the traders and deflated the four tyres, and when the vehicle came to a stop the driver came down from the vehicle and escaped into the bush.
He said the remaining occupants of the vehicle were taken away by the gunmen.
Spokesman of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, said he hasn’t gotten a report of the incident from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area.
