Kano state Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed the state Emirates to commence preparations for the Sallah durbar to effectively mark the end of Ramadan fasting.
The governor gave the directives after Ramadan Iftar held with the traditional rulers in the state at the state government house Kano. According to the governor,people of the state eagerly anticipate a colourful and hitch free durbar in the state. He explained that the state government will not allow any adversaries to deprive citizens of this cherished right.
He further announced that the Kano state emirate council will be inaugurated in April this year to enable it to function effectively adding that the council’s guidelines, ethics, and other crucial components will be communicated on the day of the inauguration.
In response, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, re-affirmed that the relationship between him and the second-class emirs is exceptionally cordial and result in a more peace loving state.
It can be recalled that due to issues related to insecurity and other tussles in the state, the annual Sallah durbar didn’t hold for years.
However, the governor’s directive has come at a time when the state’s traditional institution is having a serious challenge of crisis and counter-crisis.
