Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir of Gusau.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada.
The appointment followed the passing of the late Emir Dr. Ibrahim Bello, who died on July 25, 2025, after 10 years on the throne.
Alhaji Abdulkadir, the eldest son of the late monarch, succeeded his father as the 16th Sarkin Katsinan Gusau.
Prior to his appointment, he held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau.
The appointment was based on the recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers, and was carried out in line with traditional customs and relevant legal provisions.
In a congratulatory message, Governor Lawal urged the new Emir to uphold the legacy of integrity and service left by his predecessors, particularly as a direct descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa.
He called on the monarch to foster peace, unity, and development within the Emirate and throughout Zamfara State.
