Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has sacked four of his aides for allegedly assaulting a councilor in the state.
The affected aides are Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).
The aides were disengaged after investigations showed their complicity in the attack on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, the councillor representing Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.
The governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, conveyed the announcement after the findings of a special committee set up to probe the incident.
Njodi said security agencies corroborated the committee’s report, which informed the governor’s decision.
Governor Yahaya said the disengagement was with immediate effect and instructed the affected officers should hand over all government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities without delay.
