An Information Technology expert, Mr David Alozie, on Friday said generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) would transform the future of businesses in Nigeria.
Alozie, Chairman, Disruptive Africa, said this during a virtual conference organised to discuss the impact of generative AI on the global economy.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that generative AI is a cutting edge field of artificial intelligence that focuses on the creation of new and original content, unlike the traditional AI method that analyses and processes existing data.
Generative AI models are designed to generate fresh and creative output such as images, text and music, among others.
He said that global companies were beginning to explore the integration of generative AI and at the same time cutting down thousands of jobs to get better, efficient and maximise profit.
Alozie said that generative AI like ChatGPT could help companies generate business plans, respond to mails, autonomously analyse company data and answer almost any question like a professional.
He said that businesses were now confirming that the new AI model could perform some repetitive office tasks more efficiently than humans.
“Research shows that two third of occupations could be partially automated by AI and at the same time grow global Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
“AI might not necessarily take away businesses but competitors who use AI will do.
“Presently, some companies have already replaced certain job roles with AI assistance for better efficiency,” he said.
Alozie said that global companies were already adding AI features to their products to remain relevant.
“We need to learn how generative AI will be reshaping our future within the next one to two years if we want to remain relevant,” he said.
He, however, noted that it would take time and human expertise to unlock the full potential of generative AI in a way that is responsible, trustworthy and safe.
