The son of Sen. Barnabas Gemade, Vandefan Gemade, has lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency.
Gemade’s loss was made known during the declaration of results of the APC House of Representatives primaries by the National Assembly Primary Election Committee for Benue on Sunday in Makurdi.
Aside from being one of the leading supporters of Gov. Hyacinth Alia, Sen. Gemade is the Chairman of the APC Elders Forum in Benue.
The chairman of the committee, Alhaji Sabiu Mahuta, announced that Livinus Tsar, a close ally of Alia, emerged as the winner of the primary with 28,549 votes.
According to Mahuta, Vandefan Gemade polled 225 votes in the election.
He said the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Mr Sesoo Gboko, scored 693 votes, while the member representing Konshisha State Constituency, Mr Cephas Dyako, secured 62 votes.
A total of 14 aspirants participated in the primary election.
