At least four persons were killed in Kano Tuesday morning as gas cylinder exploded in Sabongari area of the city.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Samaila Dikko, who visited the scene confirmed that it was a powerful gas explosion, not bomb blast as earlier speculated.
The explosion happened at at Aba Road, Sabongari Kano.
The police commissioner said it was a gas cylinder used for welding that exploded and killed at least four persons.
Mr Dikko said, “It is not bomb explosion; it’s a gas cylinder. There’s a gas welder here and he was the first victim of the situation.
“As at now, one female and three males have been killed. All the security agencies are here. The Civil Defence, Brigade commander, Air force, myself and the director, DSS, are all on ground.
“We will extend our investigation and at the end of the day we will come out with exactly what happened.”
