A Kano-based politician and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s critic, Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, has been remaded in prison over defamation.
Magistrate Aminu Magashi of a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Nomansland area of Kano metropolis has ordered the remand of the politician on three count charge bordering on character assassination of the governor.
Kwamanda was said to have alleged that Ganduje bribed the Mai Mala Buni-led All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to get his factional leader, Abdullahi Abbas, obtain the party’s certificate of return as Kano APC chairman.
Magistrate Magashi, on Tuesday, ordered Kwamanda to be remanded at a correctional centre after declining the defense counsels’ bail application.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The judge then adjourned the court’s session till March 15, 2022, and ordered the defendant to be remanded till then.
Kwamanda has been attacking the governor on most of his radio political programmes.
