Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has returned to Nigeria after spending several weeks on vacation in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
His return was confirmed in a statement issued by his Chief of Staff, Malam Muhammad Garba, who disclosed that Dr. Ganduje arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Saturday at about 4:30 p.m. aboard an Emirates Airline flight.
According to the statement, the former APC National Chairman was expected to proceed to Abuja later the same day, from where he will begin a series of high-level consultations and stakeholders’ meetings focusing on recent political developments in Kano State.
Garba said the consultations would involve party leaders and other key stakeholders, with the aim of assessing the evolving political situation in the state and strengthening unity and cohesion within the APC.
He explained that the engagements form part of Dr. Ganduje’s commitment to inclusive dialogue and constructive political participation, particularly in Kano.
The statement further revealed that Dr. Ganduje is expected to participate in the ongoing APC nationwide electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise, an initiative introduced during his tenure as National Chairman to modernise the party’s membership database, improve internal planning and ensure credible and accessible membership records.
It added that the former governor remains focused on strengthening party structures and promoting democratic consolidation within the APC.
However, the statement did not address speculations surrounding an alleged plan by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to defect from his party, an issue on which many political observers had expected Dr. Ganduje’s return to provide clarification.
