Kano state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the removal of Engr. Mu’azu Magaji Dansarauniya as the Executive Chairman, state NNPC/AKK Gas Pipeline Project and Gas Industrialisation Committee (KNSG-PDIC) with immediate effect.
The sacking of the chairman was informed by his inability to measure up with the challenging job, poor performance and insurbodination.
This is the second term that the Dansarauniya is being sacked by Ganduje. He was first sacked as commissioner of works over his alleged uncomplimentary remarks against former Chief of Staff Abba Kyari when he died of COVID-19. He was later appointed as member of NNPC/AKK and later elevated to executive chairman.
This time around, Dansarauniya’s sack is linked to his opposition to Ganduje’s succession plan and open conflict with Kano state APC chairman Abdullahi Abbas.
He is the third closed aide of Ganduje to be fired over political differences. The first was Salihu Tanko Yakasai, Ganduje’s special adviser on media who was first suspended and later dismissed over his accusations of Buhari administration.
The chairman of Kano anti-corruption commission, Muhuyi Magaji, another Ganduje’s close aide was suspended and later fired for alleged corruption probe of the Kano’s first family.
A statement signed by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said Engr. Magaji’s appointment in April, last year, to chair the committee with the hope that he would work diligently to supervising the effective execution of the projet.
However, it added, he has failed to live above board in carrying out the responsibility assigned to him to oversee the project which the government attaches great premium.
The statement, his leadership of the committee, which is to among other things, coordinate in close partnership with the NNPC on timely implementation of the project has not been forthcoming in working to achieve the desired objective.
Dansarauniya was directed to hand over the affairs of the committee to the Deputy Executive Chairman, Aminu Babba Dan‘Agundi, Sarkin Dawaki Babba.
