The Galaxy Backbone (GBB) says it is committed to strengthening its ties with local Information and Communications Technology (ICT) firms across the country.
Prof. Muhammad Abubakar, Managing Director of GBB, spoke at the National Council on Communications and Digital Economy’s 10th general meeting, which is now underway.
The 5-day event is with the theme: “Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship as a Panacea for Challenges to Sustainable Economic Development in Nigeria”.
On Wednesday in Abuja, Abubakar stated that GBB would ensure that organizations at the state and local levels benefit from its connection rollout, digital services, and solutions.
“GBB will continue to deepen its collaborations with local ICT enterprises across the country to ensure that more organizations at the state and municipal levels benefit from its connectivity deployment and digital services and solutions,” Abubakar said.
He stated that at the general meeting, the agency showcased its Data Centre business e-Connect services, adding that they provide superior IT infrastructure and shared services to the Federal Government.
The managing director said: ”GBB is also providing for the private sector its ICT Infrastructure that would enhance and promote the government’s digital services in a smart, secure and sustainable manner.
GBB is projecting the strength of its fiber connectivity services as a method to connect more people, improve corporate efficiency, and boost client productivity.
“Among the services are its Data Centre, Cloud and Cybersecurity Services, smart home plans which offer Fibre-to-Homes, Fibre- to-Estates and Fibre-to-Small Offices for those residing within the Federal Capital Territory.”
GBB, according to Abubakar, has Uptime Certified Tier III and Tier IV Data Centers that are available and accessible to both public and private sector organizations.
He stated that this was done to help organizations with colocation, hosting, and disaster recovery.
Abubakar stated that the massive expenditures in infrastructure were for the benefit of both public and commercial institutions.
“GBB’s experience in creating, implementing, and providing infrastructure as a service is a testament to its ability to manage and remain in this line of business,” he added.
Establishing and sustaining a secure and certified data centre within the nation’s public sector space, is a great feat indeed.
“To strengthen its asset base and guarantee information assurance, GBB is now deploying state-of-the-art digital infrastructure and applying international best practices to backstop public sector organisations’ sensitive data.”
According to Abubakar, GBB provides digital services to an increasing number of private sector organizations to aid in their digital transformation journey.
“The level of professionalism on offer coupled with about 12 years experience as ISO 27001, ISO 20000 compliant and recently PCI DSS is certified to support the Financial Sector.
“This has become a reference point for other organisations that are considering getting on the GBB platform.”
“The organization is using the expo to highlight its innovative services and partnerships in order to support the Nation’s Digital Transformation Agenda and the realization of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) 2020-2030,” he explained.
