Twenty-two members of the Kano State House of Assembly have dumped the opposition New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP).
This is coming hours after Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf officially resigned from the party.
This was announced in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary of the assembly,
Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, on Saturday.
The Kano State House of Assembly has finally released the names of Honorable members who defected from NNPP in solidarity with His Excellency, the executive Governor of Kano State,
The statement said the lawmakers have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment and loyalty to Governor Yusuf’s administration.
The defectors include the assembly speaker, deputy speaker, majority leader, deputy majority leader, chief whip, majority whip, among others.
The lawmakers are Jibril Ismail Falgore — Rogo (speaker), Muhammad Bello Butu Butu — Tofa/Rimin Gado (deputy speaker), Lawan Hussain — Dala (majority leader),
Garba Shehu Fammar — Kibiya (deputy majority leader), Muddasir Ibrahim Zawachiki — Kumbutso (chief whip), and Zakariyya Abdullahi Nuhu — Gabasawa (majority whip).
Others are Lawal Tini – Ajingi, Musa Tahir Haruna – Albasu, Ali Lawan Alhassan – Bagwai/Shanono, Ali Muhammad Tiga – Bebeji, Hafiz Gambo – Bunkure, Rabiu Shuaibu – Dawakin Kudu, Tukur Mohammed – Fagge, Murtala Muhammad Kadage – Garko, Abdulmajid Isah Umar – Gwale, and
Engr. Ahmad Ibrahim – Karaye.
There are also Alhassan Zakari – Kura/Garun Malam, Suleiman Mukhtar Ishaq – Madobi,
Abdulhamid Abdul – Minjibir, Muhammad Ibrahim – Rano, Kabiru Sule Dahiru – Tarauni, and Ali Abdullahi Manager – Wudil.
Governor Yusuf and the lawmakers are expected to announce their defection to the ruling All Progressives Party (APC).
