Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has named the immediate-past Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie, as his new Chief of Staff.
Ehie had resigned on Sunday December 31, 2023 as speaker and member of his constituency Ahoada East 2, in a letter he addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
With this appointment, Ehie takes over from Chidi Amadi, who is a kinsman to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Following the intervention in the crisis between Fubara and Wike and the subsequent adoption of an eight-point resolution brokered by President Bola Tinubu, it requires that Martins Amaewhule be recognized as speaker, hence the resignation of Ehi.
To be appointed as Chief of Staff, Ehei stepped down from his position as member representing his constituency.
