A French court has sentenced former President Nicolas Sarkozy and two of his former associates for three years in prison for corruption.
The court found Sarkozy guilty of trying to bribe one magistrate, Gilbert Azibert, by offering him a job in Monaco in return for information about a criminal inquiry into his political party, BBC reports.
Sarkozy’s ex-lawyer Thierry Herzog and Azibert were served the same sentence.
The court says Sarkozy, 66, can serve his terms in his house with an electronic tag.
The president is expected to appeal the judgment.
