A Boko Haram mine exploded and killed four soldiers in an ambush at Auno, near Jakana along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road in Borno State.
It was learnt that the solders fell to the ambush on Thursday night at about 10:50 pm when the team was going to reinforce colleagues under attack.
A soldier, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Friday, said the terrorists laid a “maximum” ambush using controlled mines.
“We lost soldiers there. They ambushed them last night. The troops went for reinforcement and four soldiers died immediately.
The spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, Lt Col Sanni Uba, was yet to respond to enquiries on the attack as at the time of filing this report.
