Four persons were killed when cult groups clashed in the Ijagba Sagamu area of Ogun State in the late hours of Sunday.
Residents said two people were shot when the suspected cultists invaded Ijagba Street near a mosque of the community on Sunday.
The police identified one of the two to be Olasunkanmi Ajayi while the other was an unidentified woman.
The two were shot in the head.
An anonymous local revealed that the son of the killed woman was shot in the head as he attempted to prevent the police from removing the woman’s body to be taken to the hospital.
As the Area Commander of Sagamu, Shehu Alao, was restoring peace in the area, another clash ensued and two Aiye confraternity members killed two persons.
The state Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said at least two suspects have been arrested, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, had visited the scenes of the clashes to assess the situation.
