Former Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, is dead.
Shonekan headed the ING that succeeded the junta of President General Ibrahim Babangida in 1993.
He was 85 years old.
He died at a hospital, in the Lekki area of Lagos state.
His interim government served between August 26 and November 17, 1993.
Shonekan was ousted in a palace coup led by the late General Sani Abacha.
