No fewer than 350 houses were destroyed by flood in Tangaza local government area of Sokoto state.
This was as a result of torrential downpour in the area at the weekend.
The Vice Chairman of the area, Ibrahim Lawal Ginju, said the flood had also washed away an unquantifiable number of food items as it destroyed many storage facilities.
He said the flood affected Makera, Shiyar Ajiya and Runji villages.
While assessing the level of destruction, the Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in charge of the State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Zubairu Magaji consoled the victims over their losses.
Represented by the Director, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mustapha Umar, he promised to compile their report and present it to the Governor for his possible intervention.
“I assure you we will do something about your plight as quickly as possible,” he said.
