Five policemen returning from Edo election duty have been killed in a car crash in Kano state.
Kano state Commissioner of Police, Mr Salman Garba, confirmed the death of the five officers, saying that the fatal accident occurred along Kano-Zaria Expressway.
About eight others involved in the accident sustained injuries and are being treated in a hospital, the commissioner disclosed.
“The deceased officers are from Kano state police command. They were drafted to Edo state for election duty, where they carried out their assignment successfully.
“Sadly, they lost their lives at Karfi, when their vehicle had a head-on collision with a reversing trailer,” Garba said.
It was gathered that the driver of the trailer is among the eight survivors currently receiving treatment at an hospital in Kano.
