A storey building housing people displaced by floods have collapsed, killing five occupants in Kogi state.
The building caved in the early hours of Thursday in Ayah community in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Those killed include four females and one male, according to the Community Development Officer (CDO) of Ibaji local government, Mr Onalo Achimugu.
The victims werev waiting for the flood water to recede before relocating back to their various homes when the house collapsed.
“At about 1:00 am, some of the Ibaji LGA flood victims living in one of the storey buildings in Ayah Camp, Ibaji LGA, lost their lives, while others were wounded,” Achimugwu said in a statement.
Achimugu said with the consent of the chairman of the local government, Iko-Ojo Obiora, some of the injured victims had been taken to Irrua in Edo State, and some to Idah for treatment.
