An auto crash at the Kara Bus Stop section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday has claimed the lives of five persons.
Fiften others were reportedly wounded in the accident as they have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The crash took place on the outward of the Lagos lane of the highway. The accident involved a truck with registration number KRD-12HGS, a CRV SUV, and an interstate commercial bus.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, could not confirm the cause of the accident
All he said was “we have LASTMA officials on the ground and other emergency responders like the Federal Road Safety Corps handling the situation.
“As of now, the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained; the first thing we will do is to rescue the victims before taking the case to the police station.”
The accident also caused hours of traffic jam as motorists and commuters were stranded.
The situation forced some motorists to drive against traffic, thereby blocking those driving inward Lagos.
