A staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Khalid Bichi, has been gunned down in Maitama, Abuja, on Friday night.
It was learnt that Bichi was shot several times by his attackers just before 9 pm when he went out to get food.
He was rushed to Maitama General Hospital, where doctors certified him dead.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the police were investigating the matter.
The late FIRS staff was burried on Saturday afternoon after a funeral prayer at the Abuja National Mosque.
Mr Dare Adekanmbi, Special Adviser on Media to the FIRS executive chairman, Zacch Adedeji, said, the chairman is very sad over the incident.
“He conveys his condolences to the family and the wife and assures them that FIRS will stand by them in this trying time.”
Adekanmbi said the management was yet to get the details, adding that they read about the incident on social media, news blogs and others.
“The management will wade into the matter and if necessary, we would get in touch with the IG to help us unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Bichi was reported to be very active on social media with the username @Khalid Bichi and was connections with influential politicians.
