A fire incident has on Monday engulfed a section of the Federal Secretariat complex in Abuja.
The media department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed the incident which it said broke out at about 8:20 a.m. at Section C of the complex, which is the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising from the section of the building being burnt.
Some panicked workers left nearby offices as a precaution while emergency responders were alerted to the situation.
It said the outbreak was confined to Section C of the building, adding that emergency officials were already at the scene fighting the fire to stop it from spreading to other parts of the complex.
“The fire outbreak is limited to Section C of the building and is currently being attended to by emergency officials,” the office said in a brief statement.
Authorities had not yet determined the cause of the fire as of the time this report was filed.
