The Federal Ministry of Education on Monday shut down Federal Government College Kwali, located in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja over terrorists threat.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, in a statement by his spokesperson Ben Bem Goong on Monday.
The college was shut following security breach on Sheda and Lambata Villages, suburbs of Kwali Area Council which also threatened FGC Kwali.
The minister said the timely intervention of security agencies saved the situation.
Mr Adamu said arrangements should be made for final-year students to conclude their NECO examinations.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the college shutdown is coming 24 hours after kidnappers of Kaduna train passengers have threatened to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari and Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai in new video.
The terrorists threatened to slaughter some of the remaining hostages, sell some of the women like they did to Chibok girls, abduct senators and other government officials.
On July 5, Boko Haram fighters believed to be Kaduna train attackers, stormed Kuje Prison in Abuja, freeing 879 inmates, including 69 terrorists in its custody.
The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) said 443 of the fleeing inmates have been recaptured, 551 were still at large; while four inmates and one Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) official were killed.
