The Federal Government has directed security agencies to locate and rescue the 25:abducted female students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this on Monday in Abuja.
He said the security agencies must ensure that the bandits are arrested and prosecuted.
The Federal Government condemned the abduction of and has vowed immediate action to secure their release.
Idris said the government feels the pain of the affected families and remains committed to ensuring the safe return of the students.
According to the Minister, President Bola Tinubu has reiterated that the protection of all Nigerians, especially schoolchildren, is a core duty of the state.
The attack, which also resulted in the killing of school officials, was described as unacceptable and reprehensible.
Idris said the FG will not relent until the students are safely reunited with their families.
He further stated that the FG was currently strengthening internal security through enhanced military, police, and intelligence coordination, and is also deepening regional partnerships with ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force to curb terrorism and cross-border criminal activities.
He told Nigerians to remain calm and assured that safeguarding lives remains a top national priority.
