Minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun, has disclosed that the federal government now has enough to clear debts.
Edun disclosed this on Tuesday, in Abuja, during the sectoral report of President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office.
He stated that when the government came into power, it did not have enough to pay its way but through the implementation of technological change and procedures, the country’s revenue has been totally revamped and increased substantially.
“The government is paying its debt service without resulting in Ways and Means, particularly international debt service,” the minister said.
Edun further disclosed that outstanding payments of $200 million have been made with the Islamic Development Bank in shareholding.
The minister further said that President Tinubu has approved an emergency economic plan that would be implemented within the next six months.
He said the president gave the approval to further stabilise the economy.
