A female professor and the Director of the Centre for Gender Studies at Kaduna State University (KASU), Prof. Hauwa’u Yusuf, has received a N34.7 million research grant from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) National Research Grant Fund.
This was disclosed in a statement released by Mr. Adamu Bargo, the institution’s public relations officer, in Kaduna on Wednesday.
According to the PRO, this is “milestone” in the institution’s efforts to advance research characterized the progress.
He said that Professor Yusuf of criminology and gender studies would used the grant to carry out a study on “Use of Intervention Strategies for Sustainable Wealth Creation Among Low-Income Women in Nigeria.”
The professor would collaborate on the initiative, with academics from Covenant University and University of Ibadan among others from across the globe, Bargo said.
The university’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Musa, thanked Yusuf and emphasized the administration’s goal of repositioning KASU as a research-based institution, according to the university spokesman.
