FCT polls: APC wins AMAC, Bwari, Kuje, Kwali, Abaji, PDP takes Gwagwalada

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Bwari, AMAC, Abaji, Kuje, and Kwali council elections, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won Gwagwalada in the Saturday local elections held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Maikalangu retained his AMAC seat.

The AMAC Collation Officer, Prof. Andrew Abue, said Christopher Maikalangu was re-elected with the highest votes cast of 40,295 out of the total number of Valid Votes of 62,861 in the election.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) came second with 12,109 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 3,398 votes.

Abue said the rejected votes is 2,336 and total valid votes is 62,861, while the total vote cast was 65,197, adding that the number of registered voters in AMAC was 837,338, while the total number of accredited voters was 65,676.

BWARI:

The Returning Officer for Bwari chairmanship election, Prof. Mohammed Nurudeen, announced Joshua Ishaku of the APC as winner with 18,466 votes.

Nurudeen also said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate got 4,254 votes, while that of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) scored 3515 to come second and third places respectively.

The chairmanship election was conducted in 10 wards of Igu, Shere, Dutse, Ushafa, Byazhin, Kuduru, Kubwa, Usuma, Bwari central and Kawu.

KWALI:

Daniel Nuhu of the APC won the chairmanship seat of Kwali Area Council, with 17,032 votes.

Haruna Pai of the PDP scored 8,575 votes to come second in the election.

GWAGWALADA:

Mr Mohammed Kasim of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been declared winner of the Gwagwalada Area Council Chairmanship election.

Prof. Philip Akpeni, the Returning Officer for Gwagwalada chairmanship election, who announced the results of the poll on Sunday in Gwagwalada, disclosed that Kasim of PDP polled a total of 22,165 votes and therefore declared him the winner.

Akpeni also said APC candidate, Mr Yahaya Usman, scored a total of 17,788 votes, while Mr Biko Umar of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party scored 1, 687 to come third place.

ABAJI:

Umar Abdullahi Abubakar of the APC won the Abaji Area Council seat as announced on Sunday by INEC Presiding Officer.

He said Abubakar scored 15,535 votes to beat his closest rival from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) who got 5,357 votes.

The PDP followed with 4,547 votes, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with 53 votes, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 37 votes.

KUJE:

The Collation Officer for Kuje, Prof. Nkiruka Odoh, declared Danjuma Shekwolo of APC as the elected chairman of Kuje Area Council.

He won the election scoring the highest number of votes of 17,269 votes to beat his PDP counterpart who got 15,824 votes and other contestants in the election.

Odoh said the total number of registerd voters in the election was147,271 and the number of accredited voters was 39,799.
