Famous Hausa singer Binta Labaran popularly known in the entertainment circle as Fati Niger ran into trouble with her Nigerien fans over some comments she made on the current military leadership of the Francophone country.
The Nigerian-based singer who is originally from the Republic of Niger has been castigated on social media by her fellow Nigeriens when the singer posted a video saying that she will no longer sing for the leader of the military junta in Niger Republic, and also made some couple of comments that the Nigeriens fans found very offensive to them.
After the singer’s comments went viral, Nigeriens on social media took to their various handles calling the singer all sorts of names. They also went ahead to ask the singer to change her nationality from Niger to Nigeria as she is no longer welcome in their country. “Fati Niger should change her name to Fati Nigeria because we don’t need her here, we don’t accommodate people that are not patriotic. Nigeria, we have given you Fati, as she is of no use to us,” one of the fans posted.
Several comments on the singer’s attitude towards the leadership in Niger went viral on social media and the singer was forced to come out and asked “What have I done to Nigeriens to deserve all these insults?”
Fati Niger also went ahead to release a new song and also put a challenge on the song on social media but the Nigeriens launched a campaign against the singer’s move. However, sources from the entertainment industry revealed that the issue is now undergoing a mediation attempt by some notable singers in both Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
