Falcons fought hard in their first match of the tournament to beat the
invincible CSK Moscow’s ladies.
This is the first game Falcons have played since their appearance at the 2019 Olympic qualifiers in Lagos, Nigeria. In that game they drew against Cote d’Ivoire 1-1, a win would have seen them in the Olympics 2020.
New falcons’ coach Randy Waldrum has finally resumed duty and their game against CSK Moscow was his first in charge of the falcons.
It was difficult to use the march to assess the new coach, since he had just a few training seasons with the team before the game.
The Super Falcons dominated the first half with lots of possession, although they let themselves down with lack of coordination in the final third.
CSKA Moscow Ladies pressed the Super Falcons late on an equalizer but couldn’t find any way past the defense.
The Gold City tournament is a competition used by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to test the abilities of the Super Falcons.
