The best Nigerian teacher and the top employer in the country’s educational sector will get an annual award, according to the Nigerian Teachers Community (NTC), a Facebook group.
This was revealed in an interview on Thursday in Lagos by Dr. Peter Ogudoro, the founder of NTC and recipient of the Study UK Alumni Awards.
According to Ogudoro, the prize was created to promote top leadership and teaching techniques.
He claims that the prize has no monetary value connected and would instead be granted by NTC in conjunction with its partners.
The British Council honored Ogudoro on February 4 for his excellent social action in the Nigerian educational sector and for being a standout graduate of UK higher education institutions.
He is one of the three contenders left in the British Council’s Study Britain Global Awards competition.
For his efforts with the NTC’s 500,000 members, the University of Reading alumnus from the UK also won the Facebook Community Accelerator Awards for 2021.
The creator of NTC argued for changes in the educational system that would place more emphasis on learner-centered teaching rather than teacher- and institution-centered learning.
