President Ahmed Bola mistakenly referred to the 10th National Assembly as the 11th on Wednesday while presenting the 2025 budget estimates to the joint session of the National Assembly.
The joint session of the NASS is being presided by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Representatives Speaker Abbas Tajudeen in the chambers of the House of Representatives.
Immediately after the slip, a few of the federal lawmakers corrected him, saying “The 10th.”
His ADC standing directly behind him echoed “the 10th” to his hearing.
Swiftly, the president stopped the presentation, and said, “I wrote the 11th.”
Tinubu went ahead to make a joke of the whole thing, saying “it means you are re-elected.” A remark which drew a burst of wild laughter and applause from the federal lawmakers and members of the president’s entourage.
Among those in the entourage was Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume; Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu; and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, among others.
