Kidnappers have sent an account number to the families of their abductors from Kungabokun and Paze communities in the Byazhin district on the outskirts of Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja demanding for ransom.
The bandits’ are said to be demanding for N2 million, this was after bargains with the locals.
At first then kidnapers demanded for M40 million, but the locals pleaded with them and the Kidnappers settled for N2 million.
The bandits’ action is coming after attacking the two communities twice within seven days during which they whisked away 16 members of the areas.
The locals said they are currently living in fear as they recount their ordeal in the hands of the criminals.
According to the residents, the bandits stole cooking pots and oil before sending the account number to victims’ families to demand ransom payments.
A resident, who witnessed the attack around 9pm, said he saw men in face masks, adding that he immediately informed the local vigilante group, who immediately responded but were met with heavy gunfire.
“The vigilante team was lucky to be able to withdraw successfully,” he said, adding that the invaders went ahead and kidnapped several other residents, including a commercial motorcyclist and his two passengers.
Another local, Dalha Sulaiman recalled the 1am raid on Friday, saying “they pointed a gun at my face and threatened to shoot. They kicked me out of my room and forced me to lead them to my brother’s home. They abducted my second wife and my elder brother’s wife.”
He said the bandits took a cooking pot and oil away, adding that at the onset they asked for N40 million for the three victims but eventually lowered the demand to N2 million.
“They sent account details and asked us to pay into it,” Sulaiman said, adding that the family is currently pleading with the captors to accept N1.5 million.”
