Explosions have occurred in Kano and Okene in Kogi State killing one person and injuring 20 others on Thursday.
The Okene explosion which killed one person also injured others on Thursday night at Idoji area of Okene when people, including masquerades, gathered to celebrate the annual Echane festival in Okene.
A witness of the Okene incident, Usman Animuko Sani, explained that the explosion affected many residents of the area, adding that a man lost his legs while many others sustained injuries.
He said one of the victims died on the way to Okengwe General Hospital, adding that some of the victims were taken to Lokoja from the general hospital.
The Okene explosion was the third after two others at Kabba where a woman lost her life and her younger brother lost one of his legs.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ayah, a victim died in the hospital, adding that details were being expected from the operatives on the ground.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State, CP Edward Egbuka, had ordered experts from the anti-bomb unit to the scene to uncover the cause of the explosion.
In the Kano explosion, about 20 persons were injured from a Liquefied Petroleum Gas refilling shop at Sheka quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
The explosion occurred at about 8:00pm on Thursday, when a cylinder exploded, causing fire from a fish seller near the gas refilling shop which was burnt.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf, confirmed the incident, saying the 20 affected persons were rescued alive and taken to hospital for treatment.
