A former Commissioner, National Population Commission (NPC), Alhaji Zakari Kigbu, has been murdered by gunmen.
Two daughters of the slain commissioner were also kidnapped in an early morning attack on Sunday.
The incident happened at the residence of Mr Kigbu at Azuba, a suburb of Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.
The deceased is a kinsman of the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.
Mr Kigbu was also a one time former and also a former President of the Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA).
Spokesperson of the Nasarawa Police Command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, said the command got a distress call at about 12:15 am about the attack.
He said a team of soldiers and policemen were immediately despatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim had been shot on his abdomen.
“He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
“His two daughters were abducted to an unknown destination.
“The command has commenced an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
