The Nigerian football community has been thrown into mourning following the death of former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Galadima, who passed away on Saturday in Kano after a prolonged illness.
Galadima, born on February 15, 1948, was widely regarded as one of the most influential football administrators in the country. During his tenure as NFF Chairman from 2002 to 2006, he played a significant role in strengthening the structure, organization, and international standing of Nigerian football.
Beyond the national stage, he served as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, where he contributed immensely to the growth of sports at both grassroots and elite levels.
He was also one of the founding fathers of Kano Pillars FC, helping to lay the foundation for the club’s emergence as a powerhouse in Nigerian football.
In a statement, Kano Pillars described his death as a huge loss to the club and the nation, noting that his legacy, leadership, and passion for the game would remain an enduring part of its history.
His Janaza prayer is scheduled to take place on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at Masallacin Waje in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.
He is survived by family members, friends, and a football community that continues to mourn his passing while celebrating his lasting contributions to the game.
